Cesar E. Vasquez, LCSW-R
Cesar is the Senior Supervising Social Worker at Legacy Behavioral Health for The Companies at Legacy, Inc, and is captain of the “Brown Team”.
Cesar is a New York State Licensed Clinical Social Worker with the "R" psychotherapy privilege, licensed to provide diagnoses and psychotherapy to individuals experiencing behavioral health concerns. He has been a provider of behavioral health services for 14 years.
Cesar received his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the State University of New York at New Paltz. He completed his Masters degree in Social Work from the School of Social Welfare at the University at Albany, SUNY.
He is a bilingual (Spanish) Social Worker with nearly two decades of experience in the mental health field. He spent 11 years working for OMH (Office Mental Health) at the premier psychiatric institute in New York State, the Capital District Psychiatric Center (CDPC). While there, he also worked for the New York State Crisis Intervention Unit as a Social Worker Supervisor for New York State.
Cesar adds to his experience with his time spent with OMH, working for the Child/Adolescent Clinic where he conducted intakes, screenings and evaluated the needs of families while working in collaboration with psychiatry staff. He also facilitated individual, group and family therapy while educating clients about the nature of their illness.
Cesar has also worked as a Crisis Intervention Specialist for the Capital Region Children and Adolescent Mobile Crisis Team in Albany, NY. There, he provided rapid response to children, adolescents, and families in crisis.
Prior in his career, Cesar worked as a Mental Health Social Worker at Unified Services in Troy, NY for Rensselaer County’s Department of Mental Health.
Cesar has also worked for Vanderheyden Hall, Inc in Wynantskill, NY as an IRA House Manager, Direct Care Worker and Staff Support Specialist. He has worked for RSS (Rehabilitation Support Services) as a Mentally Ill and Chemically Addicted Case Coordinator in Albany, NY.
Earlier in his career Cesar worked as an Activity Coordinator and Case Manager for Supervised Lifestyles Health in Brewster, NY. He has interned for the award wining Albany County Mobile Crisis Team in Albany, NY; and also interned at Woodlawn Elementary, in Schenectady City School District in Schenectady, NY.
Drawing on his unique experience of immigrating from Peru as a young teenager, Cesar specializes in rapport building with a strengths-based approach towards treating behavioral health concerns.
With many years of practice in a variety of mental health settings including public and private care, Cesar has worked in both in-patient and out-patient settings, He is adept at offering individuals a targeted therapeutic approach to balance short-term needs and present skillful and competent interventions while simultaneously building rapport towards long-term goals.
Cesar has extensive training in crisis intervention and has worked in a supervisory capacity for several years; making him responsible for the training and competency of dozens of skilled clinicians in New York State. As with most crisis clinicians, and with a contagious and fun loving personality; Cesar is best known for his assessment capability and skillful aptitude towards managing almost any situation while providing direct support and untrammeled professional supervision to his team.

Yvette Stovall, Life Coach
Yvette is the Chief People Officer at The Companies at Legacy.
Yvette is also credentialed as a Master Certified Life Coach Instructor and is a graduate of the award winning” Brooke Castillo’s Life Coach School”.
Yvette is part owner of Legacy Health Partners, LLC; the parent company of the Yoga company subsidiary named Root3d, A Legacy Company, LLC.
In addition to administrative oversight, Yvette helps to manage the companies’ business strategy. She is also responsible for the companies’ compliance with state and federal regulatory requirements. Prior to joining The Companies at Legacy, Inc, Yvette spent the entirety of her professional career in the banking industry before retiring as a Vice President for Webster Bank.
Destined to be a great leader, with having received countless awards for her exceptional leadership spanning a 22 year career in banking, Yvette mastered the ability to inspire teams towards accomplishing unthinkable projects. The dedication that Yvette yields towards any task, quickly earned her a reputation for being profoundly impactful on others—with people describing her influence in their lives after only having spent moments with her.
With contagious energy and a commanding and graceful presence, Yvette prides herself on reminding others that people will not always remember the words that you say, but they will surely remember the way that you make them feel. Yvette has spent her life empowering women and young women alike, having served on the Board of Directors for Girls Inc. and countless other organizations.
Since bringing her leadership to Legacy’s executive team, she has worked to further establish Legacy as a leader in the Capital Region for Behavioral Health— with clients remarking that they are hopeful to just share a few inspiring moments with her as they discover their capacity for growth in the restorative and dignified space that she has created for Legacy’s clients and team of Providers.

Dr. Melanie Styles, PhD Ed, LMHC
Dr. Melanie Styles is the Director of Quality Measures and Protocol for The Companies at Legacy, Inc.
She is a Supervising Clinician with Legacy Behavioral Health and is captain of the “Red Team”.
A native of Albany, NY, Dr. Styles’ education includes; her Associates Degree in Human Services, Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Arts, and in 2002 she received her Master’s Degree with honors in Community Counseling. Dr. Styles continued her education and in 2006 garnered her License as a Mental Health Counselor in the State of New York. While working in the community- counseling field, she pursued and graduated in 2016 with a high honor’s Doctorate Degree in Educational Psychology with a concentration in Pastoral Counseling. Dr. Styles works in affiliation with multiple religious and community boards as their counseling consultant and therapist.
Dr. Styles has worked in the Human Service field in multiple facets for the past two decades as; Case Coordinator, Case Manager, Foster-care Director and most recently as Senior Therapist for her own business, Step by Step Counseling. Dr. Styles has passionately proven to foster hope and support to many individuals and families who have endured traumatic and difficult life experiences. Counseling continues to be one of Dr. Styles greatest joys in seeing people effectively develop inner hope and survival techniques to cope with life’s issues.
Dr. Style uses a range of therapeutic modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Grief and Loss, Trauma Therapy, Crisis Intervention and Mindfulness.
Her specialties include: Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, psycho-educational anxiety, gender identity, child abuse, anger management, mood disorders, marriage and family interventions, crisis intervention, depression, anxiety, stress management and faith -based therapy.

Carla Natale, LCSW
Carla is a New York State Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Certified School Social Worker. She serves as captain of the “Blue team” at Legacy Behavioral Health, PC.
Carla has 20 years of experience as a provider of clinical services, and has been a clinician at Legacy Behavioral Health since 2019. Carla received her Bachelor's Degree in Sociology from SUNY Oneonta in 2001, and a Masters Degree in Social Work from the University of Albany School Social Welfare in 2003.
Carla has a long standing history of working with a diverse population and has worked with teens and young adults as well as those in middle adulthood. Carla uses a variety of therapeutic modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy and Talk Therapy.
Carla's goal is to provide a non judgmental and confidential space for patients to feel comfortable to foster transparency, growth and healing. Carla takes pride in getting to know her patients to tailor interventions that meet the unique needs of each patient. Her specialties include: Grief and Loss , Anxiety and Depression.
Kylie McKeighan, LMHC, RN
Kylie is a New York State Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Registered Nurse. She completed an Associate’s in Applied Sciences in Nursing at SUNY Adirondack. As a Nurse, Kylie has worked in orthopedic, cardiac, psychiatric, and obstetric units. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from SUNY Plattsburgh where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. Kylie also holds a Masters of Arts degree in Mental Health Counseling from The University at Albany.
Kylie has focused much of her professional career on the well-being of children and their families; having developed and implemented a trauma assessment protocol, utilizing the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) questionnaire. Much of her work has occurred at the inpatient hospital setting as a clinical evaluator, while aiding children through difficult crises and teaching them helpful skills to manage their emotions. Kylie explains that supporting the adults in these children’s lives has always been a crucial aspect of her work.
Kylie believes that the key principle that guides her work, is the belief that you-- the client, are doing the best that you can with what you have at this moment. Kylie believes that it is her job to help you discover additional tools to manage through life’s difficulties. She prides herself on being open-minded, nonjudgmental, and always believing that you are the expert on yourself (or your child). Kylie is here to listen and support you.
Employing a primarily Person-Centered approach, Kylie draws techniques from many different therapeutic orientations including: Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT); Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT); Art and Narrative therapies; and mindfulness practices.
Lissette Stapleton, LMSW
Lissette has been a bilingual (Spanish) Social Worker for the past 31 years. She was born in Long Island, New York and raised in Bayamon, Puerto Rico. She received her Bachelor degree in Social work from the University of Sacred heart in Santurce, Puerto Rico and her Master degree in Social Work from University Interamerican in Cupey, Puerto Rico.
Lissette has worked as a Psychiatric Social Worker with children and adults in several outpatient clinics in the area including Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, where she worked with patients ages 18 and older. She has also worked at, St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam with patients ages 4 to 18 years old. Lissette has also worked in Gloversville, NY and at Glens Falls Hospital with patients ages 18 years to 85 years old. There, she provided therapy to people with issues such as bipolar disorders, depression, anxiety, bipolar, PTSD, ADHD, ADD, ODD, autism and more.
Lissette has also worked with children with behavioral issues through Parsons as a Preventive Social Worker. There, she worked with ages 3 years old to 18 years old. She has worked for the Center for Disability Services, working with Autistic children and children with behavioral issues. While there, Lissette became very comfortable working with children from the ages of 3 to 5 years old. She has been trained on EMDR (eye movement and desensitization reprocessing) and has also received extensive training on autism spectrum.. She utilizes modalities such as problem-solving, solution focus, psychotherapy, play therapy, EMDR and more. Lissette has extensive experience with individual therapy, group therapy and family therapy, as well as helping to develop and repair personal and interpersonal relationships.
Lissette has always enjoyed outdoor activities. She has a contagious energy and a graceful presence. She loves helping and celebrating others. Lissette believes that there is a higher power that guides us to do our best for ourselves and for others.. She partnered with her church in October 2017 Corpus Christi Church of Round Lake and the American Red Cross to provide help to those in need after Hurricane Maria,, Puerto Rico's most devastating storm that disrupted the lives of the entire island on September 20, 2017. While there, she was able to work for a week on assessing family's needs and providing food supplies, cash,, as well as providing counseling and holding space for the needs of those affected.
Lissette is proud of her heritage, culture and the opportunity to give back to her native island. Lissette remarks that this is something which she will always be profoundly grateful for having done.

Raphael Revella, LMSW
Raphael (she/her/hers) is a New York State Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW). She holds a graduate degree from the School of Social Welfare at SUNY Albany, N.Y., and a bachelor of Human Service degree from SUNY Empire at Saratoga, N.Y. Additionally, she holds a micro-credential in Scalable Psychopathology Intervention for ID & ASD (SPIRIT-ID-ASD) from Stoney Brook University for the treatment of individuals experiencing Autism Spectrum Disorder and Intellectual impairments.
Raphael has experience working with a diverse population across the lifespan. Her expertise is in children, families, and individuals.
Raphael studied the science of compassion, holistic wellness, solutions focus, cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, awareness, neuroscience, polyvagal theory, acceptance and commitment therapy, self-care, dialectics, schematics, crisis intervention, and family interventions, including Bowenian family therapy, systems theories, and mind-body-spirit work. Raphael always applies her work to the biopsychosocial model and the ecological perspective.
Raphael worked for Northern Rivers Family of Services with children as a school-based clinician for three years and has knowledge of the school system's means for providing care to children with special needs in the school-based setting, including Individualized Educational Plans and 504 plans. She spent an additional year working in Troy at School 18. Her private practice experience includes caring for clients at the Samaritan Counseling Center, Upstate Counseling, and Legacy Behavioral Health, PC.
Before serving individuals as a therapist, Raphael spent approximately 20 years working with the aging population in their homes and as a senior citizen day program manager. Alongside this work, she managed a bank for approximately six years and took part-time classes to further her educational pursuit of happiness.
Leading you to sanction your wholeness in finding your agency is what Raphael does. Raphael is a fierce defender of human rights and social justice. Raphael believes in all people and is trained to assist you in your time of need or to guide you when you need a hand in becoming aware of yourself by illuminating your potential. She is a welcoming force that offers consistent and authentic care for others in her community and her family.
Sarah Gardiner, LMSW
Sarah is a New York State Licensed Master Social Worker. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in Human Development Family Relations from SUNY Plattsburgh and her Master’s in Social Work from the University at Albany School of Social Welfare.
Sarah has an immense passion for helping others improve their overall well-being. Since graduating with her Master’s Sarah has primarily worked as a school social worker. In this position she has had the opportunity to work with youth and families who are experiencing a variety of different challenges. Sarah has had the opportunity to provide individual, group, and family sessions for the individuals she works with. In this position, Sarah focuses a vast amount of her time working with students who have experienced trauma and/or are having behavioral difficulties both inside and outside of the academic setting. Through focusing on the whole child, she has been successful in finding appropriate support for her students while also using therapeutic skills to help students through the challenges.
Sarah believes that each individual is unique, therefore the preferred treatment model varies from client to client. Sarah feels that by forming trusting connections with these individuals, meeting them where they are at, and following a pace that supports this, she has the ability to support them in finding appropriate coping strategies to find success in their everyday lives. Sarah would love to help her clients feel that they are heard, valued, and help them to find the drive to accomplish their goals.
Sarah is originally from a small rural town in the “North Country” but has been living in the Capital Region of New York since 2017. She enjoys spending time outdoors, and spending time with individuals that make her heart feel full.
Abby Newton, LMSW
Abby is a New York State Licensed Master Social Worker. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in Sociology from SUNY Potsdam and her Master’s in Social Work from SUNY Albany.
Abby has been working as a social worker in many different capacities for the past 5 years. She began her journey working in a residential facility with youth ages 10-18 years old, completing both group and individual therapy. Following this position, Abby began working as a school-based clinician providing individual and group counseling to elementary, middle, and high school aged students. It is important to Abby that clients feel heard, listened to, and empowered to be the best version of themselves. It is Abby’s hope to create this environment for her clients.
Abby feels comfortable working with different therapy models and believes that not one model fits all. She feels that it is important to meet her clients where they are, and work with them individually to build an appropriate model best suited for them. She is also trained in crisis intervention, through Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) training.
Abby lives in Latham with her husband and bernadoodle, Ava. Abby enjoys seeing the world, being outdoors, and spending time with friends and family.
James Gartner, LMSW
James is a New York State Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW). He earned a dual Bachelor’s degree in Social Work and philosophy from Marist College. Later, James completed a Master’s degree in Social Work from New York University (NYU) where he was a part of the advanced standing program.
James wants to provide a safe, comfortable, and relaxed climate where he can build a genuine and open therapeutic relationship with his clients. James takes a strengths-based approach to empower clients for the future with new skills, techniques, and knowledge, but also likes to explore how negative thinking patterns and styles have played into unhealthy behaviors. He feels that learning from the past, so that we can build up become stronger going forward, is the best approach. James specializes in working with adults with anxiety, depression, schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, and PTSD.
James likes to take an eclectic therapeutic style to help meet clients where they are at. The approach he uses borrows from many modalities, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Rational-Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), and Solution-focused approaches. James enjoys using psychoeducation to teach clients, as he feels knowledge leads to the power to change.
In his spare time, James enjoys writing and is working on becoming a published author, reading science- fiction and fantasy along with philosophy books focused on Stoicism and virtue ethics, hiking, and spending time with his family, including his beloved pup, Tito.
Chloe Ricco, BS
Chloe is currently a graduate student at the University at Albany School of Social Welfare working towards her Masters degree in Social Work. She obtained her bachelor's degree of science at SUNY Oneonta in 2023, majoring in Psychology.
Chloe has gained experience working with the Academic Recovery Program at the University at Albany where she was able to advocate for students and guide those struggling in higher education towards a more successful path in their academic career. Chloe is passionate about advocating for her clients and helping them find their way through whatever life may throw at them. Chloe meets every individual where they are at with open-arms and a positive non-judgmental attitude. She strives to make a safe environment for her clients by building a strong professional relationship and making sure that her clients feel validated and empowered.
Chloe has an interest in a Motivational Interviewing approach along with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and strength based approaches with no preference on who walks through her doors. She is open to using various therapeutic approaches, as long as it best fits her clients needs.
In her spare time, Chloe enjoys traveling, going to the gym, and spending time with friends and family.
Justine Pascual, LMSW
Justine (they/them/theirs) is a MSW graduate from The College of Saint Rose, class of 2019. They received their LMSW in October 2020 through the New York State Department of Education. Mx. Pascual started off their social work career as an intern at The Pride Center of the Capital Region in Albany, NY, where they provided support to LGBTQIA+ community members. Mx. Pascual ran the youth space there and assisted the program director in programming. This was Mx. Pascual's internship while they were completing their BSW at The College of Saint Rose. When Mx. Pascual went back to Saint Rose for their master's degree, they interned at In Our Own Voices, Inc (IOOV). There, Mx. Pascual grew their clinical skills working with victims of domestic violence through IOOV's domestic violence program. Mx. Pascual assisted in agency wide events such as Unity Through Diversity: The Power of Unity, a national conference geared towards LGBTQIA+ people of color to discuss issues from health to HIV awareness, and mental health. Mx. Pascual additionally worked at Capital Pride each year since 2017, providing resources and HIV testing to community members.
Mx. Pascual was hired at IOOV after completing their internship and graduating with their BSW. Mx. Pascual spearheaded a program called Project HYPE (Healthy Youth Through Prevention and Empowerment) in conjunction with Equinox Youth Outreach. The goal of this program was to assist LGBTQIA+ youth who were facing homelessness and engaging them in the program to obtain rapid safe housing. Mx. Pascual ran a HYPE youth outlet group at Hackett Middle School where there were topics discussed such as gender expression, bullying, and healthy relationships. Mx. Pascual was the facilitator for the WSW group "Our Space, Our Face" for ages 18+, and the group discussing sexual health called "Sexversations". Mx. Pascual also served as a certified HIV tester and counselor.
During their MSW program, Mx. Pascual interned at Trinity Alliance of the Capital Region where they shadowed licensed clinicians and service navigators, and eventually took on a few cases of their own. Mx. Pascual provided in-home counseling to families who were part of the Prevention program. Mx. Pascual was hired after graduating in 2019 with their MSW. Mx. Pascual later became a full-time clinician and was employed there for four years. Mx. Pascual proudly helped families who were in the foster care system reunify.
Mx. Pascual primarily specializes in LGBTQIA+ specific therapy, but is open to working with everyone. Mx. Pascual wants to provide their clients with the tools they need to someday thrive in life, not just survive. Mx. Pascual believes that everyone has the power to change. Mx. Pascual can't wait to meet you!
Mikayla Whalen, BA
Mikayla is a current graduate student attending University at Albany’s School of Social Welfare MSW Program. She has completed two full years of coursework with a micro concentration, focusing on areas of study with strong clinical components. Prior to this she attended SUNY Plattsburgh, obtaining her Bachelors of Arts in Psychology. Mikayla has developed a growing passion and dedication to the human services field, demonstrated by the wide range of professional and academic experiences she’s had throughout the past six years.
Most recently, Mikayla has worked as a community counselor within Saint Catherine’s Center for Children’s CFTSS role. In this position, Mikayla provided community psychiatric support services to children ages five to thirteen. Mikayla utilized Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Play Therapy, Behavioral Therapy and Family Therapy, all while focusing on individual therapeutic goals and skill building. Mikayla managed a diverse caseload, serving families and clients of all ages and backgrounds.
Prior to her work at Saint Catherine’s, Mikayla worked for the Charlton School as a program supervisor. The Charlton School is a therapeutic boarding school for adolescent girls ages twelve to twenty one. As program supervisor, Mikayla helped teach her residents the importance of daily routines, goal setting, self-care and hygiene skills, as well as career preparation and life skills. Mikayla supervised a team of eight to ten staff, promoting reflective practices and supporting their professional development.
As an individual, Mikayla is incredibly passionate about the field of Psychology and Social Work. She understands the need for an individualistic approach and is comfortable working with a multitude of different therapy models. She believes in meeting clients where they are at and helping them reach their full potential. Outside of school and work, Mikayla enjoys quiet time to herself at home, whether that’s cooking, crocheting, reading, or spending time with family.
Darwin Davis, LMSW
Darwin (she/her) is a licensed master social worker (LMSW) and a credentialed alcohol and substance abuse counselor (CASAC-2). She is a licensed alcohol and drug counselor (LADC) as well in the state of Vermont. Darwin grew up in south Florida. She has been living in New York State since 1988. Darwin holds a Liberal Arts Bachelors degree from Vermont College, and Master’s degrees from Ohio State University, Binghamton University and SUNY Albany.
An eclectic background informs Darwin’s work as a counselor. She has a long relationship with music and has an academic background that includes Black Studies, Sociology and Social Work. Darwin has been a student of rhythm for her entire life and has been playing African and African Caribbean drums since she was a teenager. Her study of rhythm and percussion is a central part of her self-care history and her wellness journey. Her study of the intellectual/political and cultural histories of people in the West African Diaspora has profoundly informed her cultural responsiveness as a counselor. She is a student of the world systems school of historical sociology which also informs her current work as so much of the uncertainty that we all face is rooted in world history and global social systems. She is influenced by the Psychodynamic and Rogerian schools of therapeutic practice especially practicing trauma informed unconditional regard for others and herself. She practices strength centered counseling and can offer methods for self care which promote wellness. She enjoys working with young adults, adults and elders. Her clients are diverse by race, ethnicity, age, gender identity, religion and sexual orientation. The most important element in her work as a counselor is the therapeutic relationship and creating a safe, positive, supportive and peaceful space for people to explore their lives. Darwin practices trauma informed, strengths based, person centered talk therapy utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, mindfulness practices and harm reduction.
Darwin has been working in human services since 2009. She has worked individually with teenagers in a school setting. She spent 8 years in a social model skilled nursing facility where she worked as a case manager, individual/family counselor and palliative care social worker. For the last seven years, she has been working in the field of addictions and has worked in inpatient, outpatient and residential settings. She has experience working as a crisis clinician in hospital settings. Darwin is currently employed by Albany Medical Center where she works in the Emergency Department as a Psychiatric Social Worker.
In her spare time, Darwin enjoys cooking, writing, walking, listening to music, and spending time with friends and family.
Camille Ramos, MHC-LP
Camille holds a Masters of Science in Mental Health Counseling from SUNY Albany. She previously received her Bachelors of Science in Human Development from the State University of New York at Albany. Camille is passionate about helping others throughout their healing journeys. She is devoted to a mindful lifestyle and loves to practice yoga and meditation regularly. In her free time, Camille enjoys reading, music, art, and travel.
Camille aims to provide a safe, comfortable, and inclusive environment for her clients to express their authentic selves. She believes that the therapeutic relationship between client and therapist is one of the most important components of counseling. She brings a non-judgemental and calm presence into her sessions. She is keenly aware of the influence of culture and social location of her clients and ensures to account for that when working with her clients.
Camille enjoys working with young people, especially adolescents and young adults. She has a passion for serving the queer BIPOC population. She has been a provider of behavioral health services for over 16 years. After spending 10 years in public service, and only 1 year as a Supervisor at Legacy, Monica joined The Companies at Legacy, Inc full time in November of 2021 while bringing her diversified and exceptional clinical expertise to The Companies at Legacy, Inc.
Monica is originally from Western, NY and moved to the Capital Region in 2002. She received a Bachelor's degree in Social Work from Keuka College in 2002. She holds a Masters in Social Work from the University at Albany, 2005. Earlier in her career, Monica worked as a Care Manager for a not for profit agency in Saratoga County. There, she worked with adults experiencing severe mental illness. After graduate school, Monica worked at a Continuing Day Treatment Program for Adults suffering from addiction and mental illness. There, she provided individual and group therapy and in 2011 was promoted to Clinical Supervisor and assisted with the transition from a day treatment program to a PROS (Personalized Recovery Oriented Services) Program.

Jessica is able to apply her therapeutic approach with interventions, and help youth become successful in school, at home. and in their communities.
In addition to individual therapy, Jessica also specializes in family therapy and helping adults navigate through struggles with their children and families, including significant others. Gabriela is a New York State Licensed Master Social Worker and holds a Master of Social Work degree from the University at Albany School of Social Welfare. She also received a Bachelor’s degree in psychology with minors in sociology and education from UAlbany.
Gabriela has gained extensive experience and training working with survivors of trauma and has worked with children, adolescents, and adults. She has served in multiple roles within a child advocacy center and in higher education. She is also certified as a Rape Crisis Counselor through the New York State Department of Health and was a victim advocate with a local sexual assault crisis center for many years. Serving in varying capacities has allowed Gabriela to understand the different systems and processes her clients must often navigate and, in turn, help them advocate for their wants and needs.
Gabriela uses a client-centered approach that embraces and celebrates individuals’ resilience, vulnerability, and connection to themselves and to others. She strives to create space for clients to explore their authenticity by drawing on the different dimensions of one’s Self and lived experiences. Tamika is a New York State Licensed Masters Social Worker and State of Delaware Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Africana Studies with a minor in Psychology from the State University of New York (SUNY) at New Paltz and a Masters in Social Work from University at Albany, School of Social Welfare.
Tamika has been a provider of clinical services for over 15 years. She specializes in mental health and substance abuse treatment with the Veterans population. She has been a social worker for Veterans Health Administration since 2011. She has worked for the Albany Stratton VA Medical Center and the Washington DC VA Medical Center. In Washington, she worked in an outpatient mental health clinic before joining a multidisciplinary team in an outpatient substance abuse clinic.
Tamika previously worked with the Albany County Department of Mental Health for 5 years. She was a team member of the Albany County Mobile Crisis Team, providing emergent psychiatric assessments to children, adults, and the elderly. She continued her service with the Albany County Department of Mental Health by then joining the Albany County Community, Assessment, Referral & Treatment Team. In this role, she provided individual therapy, early intervention, and crisis intervention to adult clients with dual diagnosis.
With an interest in working with children, Tamika joined the Parsons Child and Family Center – Capital Regional Child and Adolescent Mobile Crisis Team for 4 years as a per diem Crisis Intervention Specialist. In this role, she provided face to face crisis assessments of children and adolescents experiencing an emotional and/or behavioral crisis. She also worked at the Hudson Mohawk Recovery Center – Substance Abuse Intensive Program for 3 years as a per diem group facilitator. In this role, she co-facilitated educational group therapy sessions and lectures on substance abuse and addiction.
Tamika uses cognitive behavioral therapy, person-centered therapy, and a strengths-based approach in helping those she serves. She also has experience in mindfulness practices. She facilitates a Mindfulness Based and Recovery Group in her current role at DC VAMC. Sharon L. Keenan, LCSW
Sharon is a New York State Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She holds a Masters of Social Work from Springfield College in Massachusetts. She previously received her Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from the College of Saint Rose in Albany, New York.
She is the on-site Supervising Social Worker at Legacy Behavioral Health, PC and serves as captain of the “Purple Team.”
Sharon is highly skilled with different populations having worked with children, adolescents, teens, families, and adults at Parsons Child and Family Center as both a school based clinician at the Cohoes School District as well as at the New Karner Rd. Behavioral Health Clinic. In addition, Sharon brings with her experience as a crisis therapist at the Family Counseling Center in Gloversville. She has also worked with the forensic population with Albany County Mental Health and with the NYS DOCCS/OMH prison system.
Sharon has a passion for working with those who may be struggling with the aging process. She is currently seeing patients who are between the ages of 30-up; focusing on the ages of 50 and above.
Sharon’s belief is focusing on the “whole person” and “meeting the person where they are at.” She utilizes strengths based, person centered, solutions focused, CBT, and trauma focused approaches with clients. Sharon believes people’s upbringing and their life experiences are the most valuable tools in the therapy process.

Mykahla holds a Masters of Arts in Counseling and Community Psychology from The Sage Colleges of Albany. She previously received her Bachelors of Science in Psychology and Criminal Justice and Homeland Securities from Cazenovia College.
Mykahla recognizes the need for individuality by providing an open space to build a personal therapeutic relationship with the goal of creating a safe, comfortable and inclusive environment. She has experience working in crisis intervention and inpatient settings, confirmed by having completed an internship at Four Winds Hospital in Saratoga, NY. There, she worked with a wide range of individuals from ages 11 to 70 with a variety of circumstances leading them to seek support and mental health services. She has led groups dedicated towards exploring topics and concepts such as mindfulness practices, self esteem, cognitive restructuring, and effective communication.

Sally is a New York State Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She holds Master’s degrees in History (1991) and Social Work (1998), both from the University at Albany. A 23-year employee of the University, Sally has worked in a variety of positions in Student Affairs and Higher Education. Since 2014, she has served as the inaugural Director of Student CARE Services, where she developed a program and a behavioral intervention team to work with students facing complex challenges to their academic goals.
Sally is a National Coalition Building Institute Trainer & Facilitator, and a Restorative Justice Facilitator, having completed a 40-hour mediator training course. She holds a certification from the National Behavioral Intervention Team Association in Case Management and is a member of the Higher Education Case Managers Association. She has mastered professional training in assisting students on the autism spectrum by using mindfulness in therapy practice, and psychopharmacology for therapists.
Sally enjoys working with young adult and adult clients and is especially passionate about working with couples. As a skilled group facilitator, she has routinely presented on mediation and conflict resolution, beginning a mediation practice and self-care & stress management for busy professionals.

Rasheed is licensed in both New York State as well as Massachusetts. He is a New York State Licensed Master Social Worker; and a Licensed Certified Social Worker in the state of Massachusetts. Nicola received her Bachelor’s Degree in Human Development with a focus in Psychology from Empire State College. She holds a Masters in counseling from St. Bonaventure University. Nicola’s interest in counseling began as a desire to help others find themselves, their own path forward, and their own unique way of being in the world. She practices person-centered, holistic, Integrative therapy using a variety of treatment approaches according to the individual needs of her clients.
Upon graduating from Empire State College, Nicola worked as a Psychiatric Rehabilitation Counselor at St. Mary’s Healthcare in their Personalized Recovery Oriented Services program (PROS) in Gloversville, NY. As a PROS counselor, Nicola taught many Wellness Self-Management classes, including Expressive Arts, Domestic Violence Education, DBT for Anxiety, and a Women’s group, among others. She also created an Introduction to Chakras class, which educated clients about what each chakra represents, what affects our energy flow, and how to balance ourselves.

Sherman has spent years managing conflicts and crisis’ while working for the premier psychiatric institute in New York State, the Capital District Psychiatric Center (CDPC). He worked for the New York State Crisis Intervention Unit (CIU), also located in Albany, NY. Sherman has also worked for the award winning Albany County Mobile Crisis Team, an emergency psychiatric response team in New York State. He adds to his experience with both inpatient and outpatient psychiatric experience through his time spent with the Crisis Inpatient Division located at CDPC. Before leaving public service in 2012 to form The Companies at Legacy, Sherman was working for the Community Assessment Referral Treatment Team, another specialized unit in Albany County’s Department of Mental Health.
Sherman has specialized training in addiction psychiatry and substance abuse. He has worked for Conifer Park in Glenville, NY as an Addiction Specialist. Prior to that, he worked as a Medical Social Worker for Albany Medical Center Hospital and has received additional training at the LaSalle School for Boys, where he worked in their Juvenile Sexual Victim and Offender Program. Pam owns The Yoga Lily, where she created The Yoga Lily Teacher Training program, Every Woman A Goddess Retreats, and is the author of the upcoming book Goddess Nature: Embody Your Divinity.
Pam is thrilled to intern at Legacy as a clinical social worker. Her previous experience includes working as a school counselor at BOCES Southern Adirondack Education Center in Hudson Falls There, she worked with teenagers with learning, social, and emotional disabilities. She has spent time in an elementary classroom with BEARS (BOCES Education for Autism and Related Disorders Students) in Fort Edward, NY. This experience helped to shape her dedication to her client's well-being. At both locations, Pam inspired her clients to make wise choices, discover coping skills, and cultivate socio-emotional intelligence in individual and group sessions.
As a yogini and social work student, Pam is driven by a profound commitment to empowerment. She advocates for a person-centered approach, helping individuals liberate themselves from negative influences that hinder their growth. Pam is dedicated to helping clients understand the societal structures and disparities that may contribute to their distress. She guides them towards choices that promote personal liberation and encourage positive change. Pam firmly believes that cultivating a connection to the body, breath, and compassionate present-moment awareness can lead to inner peace and well-being.
Kortney Conley, BA
Kortney joins Legacy as a 2nd year intern in the Masters of Social Work program from the University at Albany. Previously, she received her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and Criminal Justice from Cazenovia College.
Kortney comes from a diverse background and has worked with many different populations. Earlier in her career, she worked with unhoused adults that had chemical dependency and gambling addiction.
Kortney has worked with youth ranging from 5 to 18 years of age. She has extensive training and experience working with youth in foster care. She also has experience working with those involved in the juvenile system, truancy concerns, chemical dependency issues and mental health struggles. Through her time spent with these populations, she also gained knowledge and implementation in Crisis Intervention.
Kortney focuses on CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and working with a child’s support system to help navigate through any challenges they are enduring. In her previous internship, Kortney spent time working for Hospice where she focused on supporting clients and family members following a terminal illness diagnoses.. While with Hospice, she also helped with bereavement support to clients who have experienced loss.
Kortney is passionate about helping mothers feel supported, and that no topic is too taboo to discuss. She has created a local network called M.O.M.S (moms offering moms support), in an effort to help mothers receive support following childbirth. Kortney’s goal is to help new mothers find their new identity while providing a safe and supportive environment.
Kortney focuses on empowerment and helping clients strive to be their best self. She understands the role of relationship building and believes that there is not a “one size fits all when it comes to therapy”.
Kortney will work with you on determining what works best for your lifestyle and needs in an effort to help find solutions and answers.
In Kortney's spare time, she enjoys nature, baking and cooking new recipes, and spending time with families and friends.
Laura Shepard, MHC-LP
Laura holds a Masters of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Malone University, Canton, OH. She also holds a Master of Education in Elementary Education, College of St Rose, Albany; and a Masters of Education in Early Childhood Education, College of St. Rose, Albany, NY. Prior to her graduate training, Lauren received her Baccalaureate in Psychology from the University of New York at Albany.
Prior to embarking on her counseling career, Laura operated a large child day care center for children ages infant – 12 years old. During her time in her child care and education career, Laura served the developmental, emotional, educational, and care needs of children for over 25 years. In that time Laura took pride in providing a safe and nurturing environment for children where their mental, emotional, and physical health was her top priority.
Laura proudly served for 20 years in the United States Army Reserve as a Medical Logistics officer in a General Hospital. These experiences of caring for others needs served to propel Laura into another caring field of mental health.
Laura believes the quality of the relationships between therapists and their clients is of crucial importance. With this in mind Laura’s goal is to create and maintain a safe, trusting, caring, and inclusive environment for every client. Laura has experience working in crisis intervention and inpatient settings, confirmed by having completed an internship at Four Winds Hospital in Saratoga, NY. There, she worked with a wide range of individuals from ages 18 to 75 with a variety of circumstances leading them to seek support and mental health services. Additionally, Laura has experience working in mental health therapy in an outpatient setting confirmed by having completed her practicum experience at Saratoga County Mental Health Clinic where she worked with clients having a variety of mental health needs. In both settings Laura has experience working with individuals with depression, anxiety, personality issues, and trauma. Laura has specialized experience as well working with military, LGBTQIA+ and individuals of various faiths and spiritual beliefs. She has led groups dedicated towards exploring topics and concepts such as motivation and cycles of change, practices for managing depression and anxiety, self esteem, overcoming destructive habits, fostering healthy outlooks, cognitive restructuring, and effective communication with others.
Laura utilizes person-centered and strength-based approaches. Through such approaches she focuses on helping clients to discover their own mental strengths through mindful recognition of their abilities to heal within themselves. Using that recognition clients then work to develop to healthy mind habits with a goal of living peaceful and contented lives. Laura uses a variety of additional practice techniques to provide the individual attention to each clients needs.
Laura is driven to help others master the skills they need to advocate for their own happiness in life. She believes in helping her clients to discover their internal strengths and to utilize those strengths to become confident and caring individuals whose skill sets provide them what they need to experience the best of what life has to offer.
Laura recognizes it takes courage and openness to seek therapeutic support. She is especially motivated to provide her clients with a therapy experience that fosters an atmosphere of genuineness, safety, and comfort with encouragement and the tools needed to negotiate life in a way that makes it all worthwhile.
To be a fully present capable counselor, Laura believes in maintaining a healthy balance between her career and her personal life. In her personal life she dedicates her time to family and spiritual practice. She believes this provides her a firm grounding with which to serve others in need. In her spare time she enjoys hiking, biking, playing piano and guitar, and reading.
Olivia Lane, LMSW
Olivia is a New York State Licensed Master Social Worker. She earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology and women’s, gender, and sexuality studies from the State University of New York (SUNY) at New Paltz. Olivia earned her master’s degree in clinical social work from the University at Albany’s School of Social Welfare.
Olivia’s passion for helping others has led her to a variety of different areas within social work. She has experience with inpatient drug and alcohol rehabilitation, school social work, community-based case management, homelessness, trauma-informed care, and crisis management. Olivia has experience working with individuals ranging from age 4 to age 60 and she believes that each client deserves the same high quality of care regardless of their circumstances. Olivia is committed to helping all clients reach their highest potential and achieve their goals. She believes that anyone and everyone can benefit from working with a mental health professional. “Therapy is what you make it", and Olivia is devoted to ensuring that each of her clients receives the unique, non-judgmental therapeutic experience that they deserve.
Olivia uses a trauma-sensitive and person-centered approach with all her clients. She believes that each of us has a unique story with both positive and negative experiences that contribute to who we are and how we cope. Olivia is certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), an evidence-based treatment approach shown to help children, adolescents, and their caregivers overcome trauma-related difficulties. Olivia also utilizes expressive arts, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy, feminist therapy, and narrative therapy in her practice.
Olivia has worked as a school social worker for the Troy City School District and most recently for Ember Charter Schools in Brooklyn, NY. She uses this experience to enrich her practice by connecting with a diverse student population with a variety of needs and goals.
